1. Number one is the surface where you dance.
2. Second and Fourth layer: Both layers are a thin transparent plastic that has printed on something that looks like tape, wich allows electrical conductivity. The little grids you can see in the deawings, are the sensors that register your steps. These grids are connected to the control box (number 6) through the conductive paths. When layer 4 makes contact with layer 2, the electrical circuit es closed and an a signal is generated for your control box to interpret as a step.
3. This layer is the responsible for soft pads malfunctions, it is a very thin sponge or foam wich little holes in it. It its located between layer two and four preventing the sensors to make contact at all times. When you step on the pad, the sponge/foam will slightly deform, allowing the sensors to make contact through the little holes in the sponge.
5. Layer 5 is only a plastic protection, wich I have painted grey in the drawing, but I think it comes white in all pads.
The animated GIF below shows how everything is supossed to work, how everything is syncronized. This process actually happens a lot faster. |
